I was having this conversation with a good friend and client this week. “How do I remain determined when there is an undeniable lingering presence of doubt?”
As with anything we have a choice where we put our focus. Is there doubt in any situation? Truthfully, yes. Is the sky blue? Sure. Without a doubt is the sky blue? All the sudden now, I’m not so sure. Isn’t it something trippy like all the colors but blue?
I listened to a great interview the other day: Nick Ortner and Lissa Rankin on the subject of EFT / Tapping. The question of placebo effect came up and Rankin answered perfectly, “Is the placebo effect in question? I don’t know, maybe, but WHO CARES, it’s working … that’s all that matters.”
My point is, you are no better off or more prepared holding onto doubt. Also, despite what the haters might say, you are no less foolish for holding onto determination. I personally choose to put my attention on determination simply because it feels good. I feel lost and confused and scared when I focus on doubt. And that does not feel good.
Determination is confident and empowering. Doubt is uncertainty and fear. Why would I want to spend my time feeling uncertain and fearful? To be realistic? To save face in case things don’t really work out?
Feel the doubt, then do it anyway.
According to a lot of really smart, successful and gratified people, this is what they fucking did and it worked.
That’s what I’m talkin about.
