one woman's quest to live the life she's imagined all while daring you to do the same

The Baddest Bitch in all the Universe

a composite of several images, but still the real deal holyfield!

“It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.” —David Attenborough

If looking at the above image doesn’t blow your frickin mind, then I don’t know what to tell you … besides keep looking!

I don’t get it. I just don’t get it. And not just earth, but all of it.

But today it’s earth’s turn, it’s her day; so we will celebrate her–regardless of the fact whether we gather where the hell she came from and how she manages to stay so young and beautiful despite the shit we continue to spill and cut down and fuck up, in her front yard, for all the solar system to see.

It reminds me of the Hafiz poem: “Even after all this time the Sun never says to the Earth, “You owe me.” Look what happens with a love like that, it lights the whole sky.”

She is the unconditional love that nurtures us out in nature, in the ocean, on our knees puzzling over a flower growing up through a crack in the sidewalk. Yet, she never says, “You owe me.”

In her stoicism she teaches us the beauty in resilience, the grace in forgiveness, the poetry in reverence–if we’re willing.

On this day, and all the days, shall we? take one moment of meditation to say, “Thanks. Thanks for being the baddest bitch in all the universe!”

“If the only prayer you ever say is Thank You, than that will be enough.” -Meister Eckhart

Seriously, give a sister props! Because she has done nothing but try to keep us grounded, wake us up on time, and fill us with wonder since we were knee-high to a grasshopper. What more could we ask for from our miraculous mama-earth?

I leave you with this: If you weren’t able to get outside today and celebrate blue skies and sunshine, get your lil’ buns outdoors some time this week and give your thanks to her majesty. We would be nothing without her, so perhaps we should let her know what that means to us every once in a while. Be good to your mother, damnit! 😉

Much Love,

kat
