I think it’s clear, given the title, I’m not endorsing Powerade by sharing this 3 min. spot. Instead, I’m endorsing badassery, which Nico Calabria embodies 100%.
As you’ll see in the short vid, even as a kid, Nico didn’t take “No” for an answer. In a recent Men’s Fitness Mag interview, Nico’s mom said that they never coddled him; they focused on what he did have rather than what he didn’t. His father instilled in him the “we can’t change it, so how will you work around it” attitude, which I love.
It’s evident in the footage that Nico was born badass, but he took it to a whole new level at 13 when he raised $100,000 to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.
He just graduated high school in 2013 and will be representing the US in the Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico this November. I have a feeling we are witnessing just the beginning of what this young man has to offer the world.
I leave you with this: What great challenge of yours may actually be/become your greatest strength?
