The very real thing about fear is that when we are stifled by it, we are not sharing with the world our true talents and giving forth the gifts we’ve been given.
Each of us has our own very unique and special talents. One of my favorite Martin Luther King quotes:
“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”
The most important part being: “… is called to be …”. There is nothing in there that suggests settling is OK.
Let’s be real, settling is selfish.
“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” – Michelangelo
And this coming from a guy who was considered to have a low opinion of painting, and look what he did! Now that’s sharing well, kids;)
I leave you with this: What are you being called to do? Stop being so darn selfish, will ya? The world is waiting for you.
