It’s really incredible when you live in a hole of sorts, and have no idea what’s in the theaters, to come across the trailer of The Theory of Everything and literally run out the door to catch the next showing.
There are so many things I loved about this film: the smart acting, the smart writing, the smart directing, the literally smart everything.
The depiction of Hawking is one of such astonishing determination. His sense of humor, I can only imagine, has played a role in his longevity. Because mostly, humor always wins.
It’s a love story, so inevitably I cried.
It’s also a story of purpose: overcoming every obstacle to do the one thing you simply cannot. So, I cried through all those parts too.
I knew only tidbits of Hawking’s work prior to the film, therefore I have a lot of homework to do.
I’m in it all for the focus, will and resilience, really. The quantum theories are pretty dope, too;)
I leave you with this: “Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. If you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.”
Oh, and go see this film!
