I’m back in Maryland this evening, home for a funeral. My Gma’s younger sister Mary was nearly 90 when she passed away this week.
Having a big family, I’ve been to a lot of funerals. Some more seemingly unfair than others, but none without laughter, long hugs, and lots of love.
Tomorrow’s tears will be brightened by lengthy stories, classic photos, and a grand celebration of a life well lived.
She was a rock star of a woman. A spit-fire. Never too short a one-liner. Her laugh was contagious, her smirk, devilish. Her heart as big as the moon.
She’s left a damn good legacy. They all did: Gma, Mary, Tommy, Dickie.
Now it’s our turn to represent the Greats. Training wheels–off!
