You Gotta Believe It To See It

I think the great thing about this time of year is the wonderment of it all: the season of giving, the merriment about, the magic of the holidays.

I’m instantly seven-years-old when the annual untangling of the decorations begins. Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Elvis transport me to a time of such innocence and intrigue.

Since I was a kid, I always wanted to capture this feeling and bottle it to sip cooly throughout the year. But instead, it slipped through my hands like the melting snow and by January I could sense the magic already missing.

What I hardly knew then–it only took me twenty-three-ish years to figure out–was that I didn’t have to bottle it … I could create it. We all can.

And it doesn’t come from tinsel or toys.

It doesn’t come from any outside source at all.

It’s reverence.

It’s a deep sense of gratitude, it’s joy, it’s love, it’s hope, it’s faith.

It’s eyes of innocence and insatiable curiosity.

It’s expecting miracles and catching them in the act.

And there’s no season for this. It’s all year round.

But you must believe. Because believing is seeing.

I leave you with this: Trust.

Much Love,

kat

Wise and beautiful words today Kat. Thank You so much. It truly is a year round gift, we just have to see it.

Thanks, Tracey. Yes, we must train ourselves to see more clearly. I read a great quote today on the subject, “If magic isn’t happening to you on a daily basis–if you’re not waking up every morning with passion and zest–you’re living in a horror picture that you concocted to entertain yourself.” – pam grout, e cubed
